Conley nails a topic I have been talking up at work:
Every single programmer I’ve seen that is exceptionally good at their job also does it for fun.
Obviously skills are a key requirement for any job. But when you narrow down the candidates and you are trying to make your final decision ask about the persons passion. When the developer tells you about their side project and how much they love flexing their intellectual muscle to solve new problems you have the person you should hire.
