Google Chrome OS, Digital Cameras, Photos and Music

Google today finally announced their foray into the Desktop / Net-book OS market.

IMHO, this is the perfect lightweight architecture for many users who have moved their data into the cloud. If Google can persuade the net-book vendors to embed wireless devices and cellular radios into their net-books they will have a huge winner on their hands.

I think about my Mom for example who runs all her calendar and email within the Google Gmail and Google Calendar applications. She only uses her PC to manage and store her photos from her digital camera. If Google can build a fast and efficient way to pipe the photos from the camera straight to the cloud with a low cost back end storage option people will jump. I would convert my Mom in a minute, so I would no longer have to worry about virus scanners and backups for her PC so we don’t loose her precious photos.

I wonder if could also expect a strong partnership with Apple for the iTunes applications. Think iTunes in the Cloud, so you could just plug in your iPod and get access to your music anywhere.

If Google can solve the music and photo problem, they will have a huge winner on their hands.

Tristan Prettyman HelloI picked up the new Tristan Prettyman album from the iTunes music store this morning.  Normally, this is not my cup of tea musically, but something about the vocals caught my interest.  It might be the subtle combination of a bit of country with a bit of KT Tunstall.  None the less I am enjoying it.
